Members of the Georgia National Guard’s 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team have been alerted for possible
mobilization and deployment in support the Global War on Terrorism.  The release from Department of the Army
Public Affairs calls for a July 2009 deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

...in order to create a network of Georgia's community organizations, business, and citizens for the purpose of providing tangible support...

...to the members of 1/121 Infantry for a period of one year prior to the deployment, during the one year deployment, and six months after the deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

1st Battalion 121st Infantry Regiment has a proud history dating back to the Civil War.  In recent times, the Battalion has served in Kosovo as peacekeepers and in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Battalion has units in the following locations:

These brave soldiers are Georgia's daughters, sons, moms, dads, neighbors, co-workers, business partners, friends and loved ones.  They have demonstrated their willingness time and again to put their lives on hold as our nation continues to work toward freedom and democracy in the Middle East.
